me tell you a bit about us.
DCC sprung out of the strong vision of a group of believers from
the Highland MB church in the early 80's. When DCC opened its
doors in 1984 it was an exciting new addition to the Northwest
growth corridor along Crowchild Trail. Today, almost twenty-five
years later, DCC is no longer on Calgary's construction frontier
- but we are still exploring the frontiers of Christ's eternal
Kingdom. I took the wheel as Lead Pastor of DCC in July 2006 after
seventeen years in Youth Ministry, ready and eager to help lead
the church into God's emerging best for us.
God's vision for DCC is not to keep pace with our “City on Steroids”
as McLean’s Magazine described Calgary awhile back. He’s calling
us call to rediscover what the "community" in Dalhousie
Community Church means. Returning to our roots means recapturing
the dynamic living room movement described in the book of Acts.
Living out that kind of vision will slowly change Calgary from
the inside out, starting with our families and neighborhoods and
moving outward from there.
God is calling us to be community in our communities. Our Life
(Small) Groups are geographically clustered lighthouses in local
communities. My goal is to help every believer that walks through
the doors at DCC to fall in love with Jesus and their own neighborhood.
I'd also like everyone to join a Life Group full of people committed
to doing the same thing. If the words "flashy," "slick,"
"businesslike," and "fast-paced," have been
turning you off to church lately, you really should check us out.
Here are a couple of very different words that have been on my
heart lately:
Slower. Simpler. Deeper. Decentralized.
If those words resonate with you, if you'd like to learn how to
live a life like that, DCC is the church family for you. This
website will give you a few snapshots of who we are, but really,
